How to Install the Print Pelican Magazine Printing PDF Extensions for Mac OS X

(It is assumed that Acrobat Distiller 6.x-7.x is already installed on your computer)   This is a complete set of instruction that will help you install the Print Pelican Magazine Printing PDF Extensions for Mac OS X. There are three basic steps for it.

STEP ONE:

1. Download PDF Extensions for OSX.sitx
   
   
2. Save the .sitx files to your hard disc by extracting them from .sitx archive files.
   
   
3. Print the page and follow the steps given below.

STEP TWO: Installing the Prinergy virtual printer on your system

1. Search for the folder named “Prinergy Refiner” which was downloaded and extracted in Step 1
   
   
2. The file “Prinergy Refiner” ppd should be copied to Macintosh HD: Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\en.lproj
   
   
3. Open the Printer Setup Utility from the Macintosh HD: Applications\Utilities
   
   
4. Click on the Add button
   
   
5. Select “IP Printing” from the top menu
   
   
6. Select “LPD/LPR” from Printer Type menu
   
   
7. Type localhost in the Printer Address field
   
   
8. Type Print Pelican Magazine Printing in the Queue Name field
   
   
9. Select Creo Products from the printer models list. You will see Prinergy Refiner appear in the Model Name window
   
   
10. Click Add at the bottom of the window
    
    
11. Now there will be a printer named Print Pelican Magazine Printing on localhost in the printer list
    
    
12. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
    
    
13. Well Done! Now you have installed the virtual printer which can be used by you to make commercial print-ready PDF files from your OS X applications

1. Search for the folder named “Prinergy Refiner” which you downloaded and extracted in Step 1
   
   
2. The file “Prinergy Refiner” ppd should be copied to: Macintosh HD: Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\en.lproj
   
   
3. Open the Printer Setup Utility from the Macintosh HD: Applications\Utilities.
   
   
4. Click on the Add button
   
   
5. Select Internet Printing Protocol - IPP from the top menu
   
   
6. Type localhost in the Address field
   
   
7. Type Print Pelican Magazine Printing in the Queue field
   
   
8. Type Print Pelican Magazine Printing in the Name field
   
   
9. Choose Creo Products from the printer models list at Print Using. You will see Prinergy Refiner appear in the Model window.
   
   
10. Click Add at the bottom of the window
    
    
11. Now there will be a printer named Print Pelican Magazine Printing in the printer list
    
    
12. Close the Printer Setup Utility
    
    
13. Congratulations! After following the above instructions you will have successfully installed the virtual printer. This printer will be used by you to make commercial print-ready PDF files from your OS X applications

STEP THREE: Installing the Acrobat Distiller plug-in

1. Search for the folder named “Distiller Assistant” which you have downloaded and extracted in Step 1
   
   
2. The file “CreoDistillerAssistant” should be copied to Macintosh HD: users\shared\Adobe PDF 6.0\Startup
   
   
3. Copy the file “Creo PDF Pages.joboptions” to Macintosh HD: users\shared\Adobe PDF 6.0\Settings
   
   
4. Open Acrobat Distiller
   
   
5. Now you will see the Creo PDF Pages item in the Default Settings drop-down menu

1. It is the same as Acrobat Distiller 6 above, except for the following steps:
   
   
2. Copy “CreoDistillerAssistant” to Macintosh HD: Library\Application Support\Adobe PDF\Startup
   
   
3. Copy “Creo PDF Pages.joboptions” to Macintosh HD: Library\Application Support\Adobe PDF\Settings

1. Set the Default Settings to “Creo PDF Pages”.
   
   
2. Into the open Distiller window drag a .ps file
   
   
3. A PDF file in the same folder as the .ps file will be generated by Distiller
   
   
4. Open the PDF file in Acrobat and check it to see that whether all elements are there. Check the crop marks, page orientation and bleeds, etc
